Sigmund's first opens in November 2009 In East Village as a pretzel bakery and coffee shop and becomes a
destination for freshly baked pretzels, dips, signature drinks, pastries and short but fierce list of sandwiches and
wieners on pretzel bread.
We start a wholesale bakery in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. As beergardens and beer-centric
restaurant and bars kept popping up around town we are challenged to keep up with their demand for a perfect bar snack - fresh,
soft salty pretzel. Thank you to all our clients for your support!
All along we were dreaming up our own take on a perfect mix of good beer, fresh bread and bar food.
In summer 2013 we finally make a move and reopen our flagship as Sigmund's Pretzel Food Beer. Gastropub? Beehaus? Your call...
Our passions lye with all things German, Eastern European, pickled, fermented and - New York.
We are hoping you'll come for Beer and Reuben on Pretzel Bread and stay for Pickled Herring Sandwich,
Braised Short Rib Sliders, Duck over Grits, Antipretzel Platter (chicken liver mouse, cheese, cured meats,
pickled watermelon) and Pretzel Fondue.
We still bake our pretzels fresh all day - you'll know it when you're crossing the street.
